Some destinations seem made to be explored by bike. Tuscany’s Maremma region is one of them. Scenic roads, endless gravel tracks, charming villages and vineyards stretching towards the sea create a dream setting for cyclists seeking authentic experiences. This vision lies at the heart of the partnership between the Morellino di Scansano Consortium, InGravel and BMC Switzerland, a collaboration that successfully brings together two complementary worlds: cycling and wine.
Wine Tourism by Bike: A New Way to Experience a Territory
Wine cycling tourism is becoming one of the fastest-growing trends in experiential travel. Exploring wine regions by bicycle allows riders to connect deeply with landscapes, local culture and traditions. The Morellino di Scansano area offers the perfect setting. Here, Sangiovese expresses its unique character thanks to a remarkable environment where rolling hills, Mediterranean vegetation and the Tyrrhenian coastline come together.
The Birth of InGravel Morellino
The first edition of InGravel Morellino took place in 2023, introducing cyclists to one of Tuscany’s most historic wine regions through a unique gravel riding experience. Participants enjoyed an immersive journey combining spectacular landscapes, white gravel roads, local cuisine and tastings of Morellino di Scansano wines, creating a perfect balance between sport, culture and hospitality.
A Growing Partnership
In 2024, the collaboration between the Morellino di Scansano Consortium, InGravel and BMC Switzerland reached a new level. The three partners joined forces at Vinitaly, attracting attention from cycling enthusiasts, wine professionals and industry leaders. The project was also featured at Rosso Morellino and the Italian Bike Festival, demonstrating how cycling and wine tourism can work together to promote a destination.
InGravel Morellino 2024
